Arya Kanya Mahavidyalya, Shahabad Markanda is a premier, multi-faculty, P.G. girls College of Haryana. It owes its inception in July 1968 to the philanthropic zeal of the illustrious founder members of the Prabandhak Samiti who were inspired by the teachings of Swami Dayanand, the founder of Arya Samaj. The aim of establishing of this college was to make an easy access to higher education for the girls of Shahabad and its adjoining villages of Haryana and other states.

The college is situated on Delhi-Chandigarh / Amritsar G.T. Road, between Pipli and Ambala Cantt. It is well connected with rail and road transport.

Started as an Arts college, now it has developed into a multi faculty Post Graduate College which has rendered meritorious service to the society in the field of women education. Now it is providing a healthy milieu for learning as it has carved a niche for itself in the competitive educational market. In addition to the traditional courses in Humanities, Science and Commerce, it provides education in job oriented and professional courses i.e. BCA, B.Sc.(Comp. Sc.), B.Sc.-Fashion Designing, B.Com.(Comp. App. (V)), Commercial Art, PGDCA and also many Add-on Courses viz. Web Designing & Office Automation, Office Management, Fashion Designing, Audio-Video Sound Recording, E-Governance, Textile Designing, Accounting Practice, Computer Animation, Mass Communication and Functional English. The College also takes pride in running Post Graduate Courses in Fine Arts, Hindi, Economics, M.Com, M.Sc. Computer Sc. (Software).& M.Sc. Mathematics.
