Assessment Information

Assessment Schedule & Procedure

The college follows a structured and transparent assessment system to monitor students’ academic progress throughout each semester. Internal assessment is conducted regularly to evaluate students’ performance, participation and overall development.

Internal Assessment

For each paper in every semester, internal assessment marks are awarded based on the prescribed evaluation criteria.

1. Assignments

Students are required to submit two assignments for each paper in every semester within the prescribed time. Assignments help students strengthen their understanding of the subject and develop research, analytical and writing skills.

2. Class Tests

Students are required to appear in class tests for each paper every semester. These tests assess students’ understanding of the topics covered during classroom teaching.

3. Attendance

Students are required to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each paper every semester as per the prescribed academic requirements.

Assessment & Evaluation under NEP 2023–24 Onwards

As per the National Education Policy (NEP) framework, students are assessed through a system of Continuous Comprehensive Assessment (CCA) designed to support their academic progression throughout the programme.

Each student is evaluated in the prescribed courses in accordance with the scheme, syllabus and learning outcomes through a combination of Internal Assessment and End-Term Examination.

Evaluation Pattern

  • Internal Assessment: 30% of the total marks
  • End-Term Examination: 70% of the total marks

Components of Internal Assessment

The 30% Internal Assessment is broadly based on the following components:

a. Class Participation
Active participation and engagement in classroom learning activities.

b. Academic Activities
For Theory Courses: Seminar, Presentation, Assignment, Quiz, Class Test, etc.

For Practical Courses: Seminar, Demonstration, Viva-Voce, Lab Record, etc.

c. Mid-Term Examination
A mid-term examination conducted to assess students’ academic progress and understanding of the course content during the semester.

This comprehensive assessment system aims to ensure continuous evaluation, active learning, academic engagement and holistic development of students.
