About the College
Arya Kanya Mahavidyalya, Shahabad Markanda is a premier, multi-faculty, Post Graduate girls’ college of Haryana. It owes its inception in July 1968 to the philanthropic zeal of the illustrious founder members of the Prabandhak Samiti, who were inspired by the teachings of Swami Dayanand, the founder of Arya Samaj.
The aim of establishing the college was to provide easy access to higher education for the girls of Shahabad and its adjoining villages of Haryana and other states.
Arya Kanya Mahavidyalya is a RUSA Beneficiary Premium Institute.
The college is situated on the Delhi–Chandigarh/Amritsar G.T. Road, between Pipli and Ambala Cantt. It is well connected with both rail and road transport.
Started as an Arts college, Arya Kanya Mahavidyalya has now developed into a multi-faculty Post Graduate College that has rendered meritorious service to society in the field of women’s education. The college provides a healthy milieu for learning and has carved a niche for itself in the competitive educational environment.

Anti-Tobacco Initiative
In view of the guidelines of TOFEI (Tobacco Free Educational Institution), an Anti-Tobacco Cell has been established to spread awareness among students and young adults by sensitizing them to the harmful effects of tobacco use and creating a healthy and tobacco-free environment.
The use and sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products within a radius of 100 yards of the institution is strictly prohibited and is a punishable offence.
